ABOUT US

Submicron Heterostructures for Microelectronics, Research & Engineering Center, RAS was founded on March 19, 1991 in accordance with the Resolution of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR with the aim to provide research and development of semiconductor optoelectronic devices based on multicomponent epitaxial heterostructures.

In accordance with the Resolution of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences on December 13, 2011 no. 262, the type and name of the Center were changed from Institution of the Russian Academy of Sciences Submicron Heterostructures for Microelectronics Research and Engineering Center of the RAS to Submicron Heterostructures for Microelectronics, Research & Engineering Center, RAS.

The Submicron Heterostructures for Microelectronics Research and Engineering Center of the RAS is under the supervision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The Submicron Heterostructures for Microelectronics Research and Engineering Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (hereinafter the Center) is a part of the Russian Academy of Sciences and among the institutions united by the Saint Petersburg Scientific Center of the RAS.

The scientific management and coordination of the research of the Center are provided by the Nanotechnology and IT Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences and partially by the Saint Petersburg Scientific Center of the RAS.

The research areas of the Center concern the research of epitaxial growth techniques and diagnostics of semiconductor nanoheterostructures, the study of basic physics of operation of nanoheterostructure based devices as well as the development of novel types of micro- and optoelectronic devices and their further commercialization.

RESEARCH AREAS AND MAIN ADVANTAGES

At present the research is carried out in the Center in the following directions:

(approved by the Resolution of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences no.154, June 9, 2009).

The activities of the Center are focused on the basic and applied research in the field of “Industry of nanosystems and materials” included in “The List of Priority Development Fields of Science, Technology, and Engineering in the Russian Federation”. The research directions of the Center corresponds to Sections 7 and 10 of the Main Research Directions of the Nanotechnology and IT Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences:

7 Hardware components for microelectronics, nanoelectronics, and quantum computers. Materials for micro- and nanoelectronics. Nano- and micro-system engineering. Solid state electronics.

10 Nanotechnologies, nanobiotechnologies, nanosystems, nanomaterials, nanodiagnostics, nanoelectronics, and nanophotonics.
